Commission of the Management Board of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development commended JGL for its continuous efforts to align their operations with the global postulates of sustainability in as many elements as possible.
New JGL’s Sustainable Development Report for 2016 meets all the guidelines of the European Commission. The added value is a transparent representation of non-financial impacts, signifying the company's alignment of reporting with the requirements of the G4 core guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative.
"JGL has indisputably grown into a leading company in Croatia by many criteria, and above all, it has achieved economic success, breakthrough on foreign markets, retention of highly educated, skilled and motivated workforce, dedication to continuous development of community relations, which it demonstrates with a serious approach to every potential challenge and the opportunity to improve relations. We can also add to this a process of non-financial reporting of high quality," states the opinion of the BCSD Croatia commission.
In the opinion of the Commission, "JGL is a multinational company that has strongly grown in recent years and shows it is capable of absorbing dominant negative economic trends, seeing as the company achieved economic success in 2016 as well. One of the indicators of JGL’s propulsion and potential is the fact that 44 new products were launched just in 2016, which is a very impressive indicator that JGL recognizes and does not hesitate to take advantage of development opportunities despite trends. At a time of great unemployment, which is a key social problem, creating new opportunities and new jobs is certainly one of the most responsible roles in which an enterprise can contribute to the community’s betterment and demonstrate its social responsibility. In addition, JGL has traditionally purchased electricity from renewable energy sources under the ZelEn brand, and in 2016, the ISO standard 50001 was additionally introduced, making the company an important contributor to the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, in accordance with the obligations that we have undertaken on a national level with the aim of limiting greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change”.
The commendation for the company’s progress was received very positively: "We were very excited to receive the Opinion of the BCSD Croatia on our Sustainable Development Report for 2016. This is another confirmation of our efforts to make our business socially responsible. Our decisions aimed at investing in environmentally friendly technologies, from getting electric energy from renewable sources, through the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions in manufacture, to the care for employee health and investment in the local community, have proved to be right and commercially justifiable, which is why we will continue with their implementation and look for new ways to further improve our business,” said Jasmin Huljaj, JGL’s Chief Executive Officer.
