On 25 May 2019, Opatija hosted the First International Adriatic Sea Water Symposium, an international scientific symposium on the significance of sea water for the human health, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Aqua Maris, JGL’s most famous and most internationally known brand.
Around a hundred participants from the domestic market and as many as 15 global markets (including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines), all eminent experts from the ENT and paediatric field, along with our partners and employees, received the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, as well as learn more about the significance of sea water for the improvement of human health.
A total of 17 lectures and poster presentations enabled the participants to develop an even better understanding of the expert knowledge of the sea, and further enriched the existing expert knowledge base on the benefits of the sea, confirming the safety of sea water based products for use and their efficiency in the prevention and therapy of upper respiratory tract infections.
Participants listened to the lectures by their colleagues from other markets recounting their experience in the use of Aqua Maris products, with the presentation of Prof. Sergey Ryazantsev from Russia, a globally renowned lecturer and author of more than 400 professional publications, including 12 monographs and clinical guidelines, arousing particular interest.
In his speech marking the opening and closing of the symposium, Mislav Vučić, JGL’s CEO, emphasised that this event introduced a new approach to work within the pharmaceutical profession that will enable further research and exchange of knowledge, with JGL continuing to provide adequate platforms for scientific gathering and activities.
"Our main goal was to arouse the interest of experts in the further development of studies on the use of sea water for the prevention and treatment of upper respiratory tract infections. I think we succeeded in doing this, as well as in opening the door to future cooperation, both between JGL and physicians and among physicians from different markets, where JGL’s role will be to provide an environment in which research and advancements in knowledge can occur continuously,” said Marina Stanojević Večerina, the lead project manager and global brend manager for Aqua Maris and Meralys.
Before the symposium, the guests received a tour of the production facilities in JGL Pharma Valley, followed by a get-together in the central atrium of the office building in Svilno. Marina Pulišić, member of JGL’s Board of Directors, made a speech to welcome everyone gathered.
