Judging from the most recent analysis of results achieved by Croatian companies in the previous year, the five long years of crisis took their toll on the business of most Croatian companies; however, it gives us great pleasure to announce that, according to the newest information, JGL placed 129th in regard to generated revenue and 37th in regard to realised export among 505 highest-ranking companies. According to a new study conducted by the business weekly Lider which offers an overview of business results for 2012, there are barely any industry branches reporting growth in revenue, number of employees or profit, apart from the pharmaceutical and tourism sectors.
When viewed globally, the pharmaceutical industry is placed at the very top of the most profitable ones and has proved to be quite resilient in these times of crisis. Another interesting fact: the 20 largest pharmaceutical corporations account for no less that 60 percent of the global market. Pliva Hrvatska is clearly leading the Croatian pharmaceutical market, followed by Belupo (121st place), while JGL is in 129th place. In the "Best Exporter" category, our company holds the impressive 37th place, with 24.5% growth when compared to 2011.
If viewed cumulatively, the most profitable drug manufacturers are clearly the ones dealing in generics manufacture. On the other hand, those that manufacture mainly non-prescription drugs have much stronger competition and fail to realise the same margins, as reported by the Lider magazine.
Finally, the industry shows a trend of constant growth, which, if the estimates are to be believed, should amount to an average of 5 to 8 percent per annum during a longer period of time.
