For the second consecutive year, JGL was awarded the DOP Index in the category of Large companies at a special award ceremony as part of the National Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility at the Regent Esplanade Hotel.
This recognition was given to JGL by the Croatian Chamber of Economy, and the 6th conference was organised by the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development and sponsored by the President of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Economy. President Ivo Josipović handed the prizes to the winners, and the DOP Index Award was accepted on behalf of JGL by its CEO Ivo Usmiani, who said that JGL's business was based on the principles of sustainable development, which implies economic growth, while maintaining ecological balance and social progress. Usmiani said, "We strive to be a reliable and responsible member of the community in which we live and work; we believe that good business practice also means good deeds."
The goal of the DOP Index Award is to commend those Croatian companies which understand and properly implement corporate social responsibility. The award is given in accordance with the methodology that enables a comprehensive insight into socially responsible practices through six areas, which include: orientation of companies toward economic sustainability, inclusion of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development in business strategy, responsible policies and practices in the working environment, responsible policies and practices of environmental management, CSR in market relations and socially responsible relations with the community.
JGL strives every year to create an open relationship with its employees, enable a stimulating work atmosphere, nurture healthy personal relations and maintain good communication with external and internal stakeholders, all with the aim of creating an environment that supports creativity, free voicing of one's opinion, and discussing problems. In addition, JGL continuously adopts new ecological standards, takes proactive actions in the direction of environmental protection, healthy personal growth, and affirmative social action.
For example, JGL uses exclusively the energy produced from renewable sources at all locations in Croatia,educates preschool and school children about the need to preserve and protect the Adriatic Sea through the national, interdisciplinary project titled "The sea is alive", includes its employees - volunteers in ecological initiatives for preserving the sea, as well as numerous humanitarian activities, thus developing a strong corporate spirit founded on basic human values.
As a reminder, this is the third recognition in the area of sustainable development for the export-oriented pharmaceutical company JGL - in 2011 it was awarded the DOP Index for best progress compared to the previous year, and last year it also received an award in the category of Large companies.
