Interesting and educational workshops took place in the period from 19th to 30th May 2014, as a part of the education project entitled "Education of children about the need to preserve and protect the Adriatic underwater world". Environmental workshops were held by the members of the PAKS Ecological Research Society, with the help of JGL as a sponsor. The workshops were held in the "Veruda" primary school in Pula, with the participation of a total of 240 students from the second to the sixth grade. Education also took place in the "Poreč" primary school in Poreč and in the following district schools: Veli Maj, Nova Vas and Žbandaj, with the participation of a total of 230 young ecologists.
The workshops were held by Maja Novosel, PhD and Kristina Fedel, final year student of Marine Biology at the Faculty of Science in Zagreb. Students paid special attention to the theoretical part, as well as to the presentations, films and projections of photographs. Nevertheless, the most interesting events included practical workshops, competition in collecting sea organisms and the presentation of scuba diving skills, as well as a short scuba diving course.
This is a long-term project on a national level by which we wish to help in the education and creation of a new generation of children who appreciate and know everything about the Adriatic Sea, a source of health and energy.
