In cooperation with the Teaching Institute of Public Health of the Primorje-Gorski kotar County and under the sponsorship of the Primorje-Gorski kotar County and the City of Rijeka, between 2 and 6 April JGL toured the county to celebrate World Health Day.
With the aim of raising health awareness of the local population and creating overall positive energy for health and under the motto "All for health, health for all", this year we celebrated World Health Day as Health Week, with activities related to public health carried out in branches and centres of the Teaching Institute of the PGK County between 2 and 5 April, and a final public health event held on Korzo on 6 April 2013.
The grand finale held on the central Rijeka promenade and the Karolina Riječka Wharf saw numerous activities aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, such as the importance of a healthy diet, preventive check-ups and sports carried out by members of the "3. maj" sailing club, Rijeka majorettes, senior citizens and girls from the "Gym dance" and "Zumba" clubs.
On Korzo, visitors had the opportunity to try healthy fruit meals, and as a part of the preventive action, everyone interested could undergo blood and eye pressure and blood sugar measurements. Many activities were held in other towns and municipalities of the Primorje-Gorski kotar county: Crikvenica, Krk, Delnice, Cres, Kostrena and Viškovo, which means that almost 500 people had their blood pressure measured and 2500 educational brochures and fliers and several hundred of our products were handed out.
This year's World Health Day was dedicated to the fight against elevated blood pressure or hypertension, which affects 1 in 3 people all over the world, amounting to a billion people over 20.
