In Croatia, women make up 49% of employees in science, but their share in leading positions is much lower, with JGL leading with as many as 62% of women in management positions.
Although women hold 49% of jobs in science in Croatia, their share in leadership positions is much lower. There are not enough women in managerial positions in the pharmaceutical industry, as stated at the second Conference for Women in Science and Pharma, held on 11 February 2022 by the “Women in Adria” network of entrepreneurs and businesswomen.
Our very own Director of Market Operations Alenka Jajac-Knez, member of the company’s leadership team, spoke about the factors, trends and studies related to the status of women in the pharmaceutical business, emphasising that the pharmaceutical sector is an environment of exceptional innovation and added value with excellent prospects for growth and development. She also proudly pointed out that 62% of JGL’s managerial positions are occupied by women, who also account for 75% of the company’s total workforce.
“We owe it to our female colleagues to share our knowledge, to mentor and teach them, and it is our responsibility to prepare them for the positions they will one day take over from us,” said Jajac-Knez, proposing the use of the phrase “beginner’s mind” as a guide during career development. The conference was organised to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
