JGL Case Study Competition

JGL initiated the first "JGL Case Study Competition" at the instigation of students of the "Biotechnology Student Association" of the Biotechnology and Drug Research Department at the University of Rijeka.

The objective of the competition was to introduce the students to the practice they could encounter in the pharmaceutical industry by solving a multidisciplinary professional case study. By solving given exercises, due to their variety and range, the students had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, adaptability, but also their open minded approach.

A record number of 57 students applied for the competition, forming 19 three-member teams, and 16 of them provided the solution within the given deadline. The work of students at various stages of their undergraduate and graduate studies showed great knowledge and commitment, and the overall evaluation by JGL's expert team was that all participants were top-quality, inventive and proactive young persons.

Among very stiff competition, the best was the work of the team BioBuds, composed of three second-year students of graduate studies: Ante Markovina, Daria Tadić and Teo Kolonić. After the announcement of winners and award of certificates of appreciation to all participants, the winning team is looking forward to the main prize - a two-week practice at the JGL Research and Development Department, which will be the best recognition for their efforts.

This way JGL continues to strengthen its cooperation with the university by recognizing a large networking potential.
