Eleven JGL's employees donated blood for the first time as part of JGL Drop, a humanitarian voluntary blood donation action, which this pharmaceutical company organized for the third time in partnership with the Red Cross and the KBC Rijeka Clinical Institute for Transfusion Medicine.
At the business premises within the new JGL Pharma Valley complex, the action was supported by 42 employees, and a total of 29 blood units were collected. They were donated by JGL's employees and members of the Primorje Aqua Maris synchronized swimming club.
"JGL has again proven itself as a bright example and a company that promotes the humane practice of blood donation among its employees. Besides increasing our contribution to the efforts to provide the necessary blood supply for those in need, corporate actions of this kind strengthen partnership in the local community and greatly contribute to its growth and development", said Ivo Vidotto, the president of the Council of Blood Donors of the Rijeka Red Cross branch office and the National Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
JGL joined the celebration of this year's World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness of the importance of achieving the World Health Organization's goal for the collection of blood in every country only from volunteer donors by 2020. Currently, this is a practice in only 62 countries in the world - including Croatia.
