The third edition of the STEM Picnic unfolded under clear spring skies, and JGL was proud to support the event as one of its sponsors, which brought together children, young people, scientists, educators and science enthusiasts. The event took place on April 12, 2025 at the Children’s House, Rijeka City Library, and the courtyard of the Benčić Art Quarter, themed “Space – Ready for Launch!”.
As one of the event partners, the JGL Pharmacy Museum offered hands-on activities for the youngest visitors, including chemical experiments, pharmacognosy-themed games, and VR experiences. The aim of the event is to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through play and entertainment. The JGL Pharmacy Museum played an active role in the programme, helping to make science more accessible to children in a fun and engaging way.
With a packed program – from rocket launches, asteroid defence and galaxy exploration to space craft model making and robot programming – the STEM Picnic turned science into a playful adventure. Alongside the educational programme, the organisers also offered an entertaining one, including a concert, theatre performances, and a DJ set.
In addition to 30 workshops, four popular science lectures titled “STEM Talks” were held, giving visitors the chance to engage with experts on topics such as architecture on Mars, solar activity and the magnetic field, and the origins of the universe. As part of the event, awards were presented to the winners of the STEM competitions “Adventure through the Milky Way”, in which children designed their own board games, and “Video of the Future”, where young people shared their visions of what lies ahead.
By blending education with play, and encouraging both exploration and creativity, the third STEM picnic once again demonstrated that science can be fun, inspiring, and full of exciting possibilities for children and youth - initiatives that JGL gladly supports.
