The Croatian Medical Students’ International Committee (CroMSIC), sponsored by JGL, and in cooperation with Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka, the University of Rijeka (UniRi) and Centre for Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine, organised a Diving Medicine Summer School in July for sixteen top medical students from all over the globe.
Students from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Malaysia, Germany, Norway, Poland, Singapore, and Turkey completed a total of five dives under professional guidance on the beaches of Kostrena near Rijeka. During their 7-day stay, they also participated in educational lectures, which gave them the opportunity to learn more about the field of underwater and hyperbaric medicine that has a range of applications in many branches of medicine.
Given that JGL is actively involved in the work of student organisations and is eager to support educational projects related to scientific development, participants of the Diving Medicine Summer School were presented with the opportunity to visit the company’s facilities at Svilno and learn about the complex processes of developing, manufacturing and storing pharmaceutical products in more detail. During the tour, they also learned about the product development processes of JGL’s international Aqua Maris line, as well as about the importance of a nasal rinse before diving.
The students were guided on their tour by JGL’s young talent, who in their own way presented the company and the various challenges they face on a daily basis by working for a company that operates in over fifty markets around the globe, either independently or through partners.
This is JGL’s way of contributing to Rijeka’s position as a meeting place for science and industry, open to educating young talent, bringing them into contact with the business community, and preparing them for future business endeavours.
