This year, the research team headed by Prof. Vilko Žiljak, PhD, was awarded the National Science Award of the Croatian Parliament in the domain of scientific discoveries. The award was given at the event held in the Hall of the University in Zagreb on 14 November 2011. The event also comprised a presentation featuring JGL in a prominent role.
It was precisely JGL that was first to recognize the value of infrared protection and apply it to the packaging of its products, thus giving evident and concrete support to this crucial discovery, as well as added value to its key brands.
The discovery, made by doctors of science Ivana Žiljak, Vilko Žiljak, Klaudijo Pap and Jana Žiljak Vujić, enables discovering numerous unknown possibilities of human vision that can be a creative basis for new visual achievements. Each image in the infrared spectre also has an image that is invisible to the eye and that can be seen by a special optical device - reader, camera or mobile phone with the night vision option. Hidden images cannot be copied, printed without a code, that is, reproduced onto a copy, which provides for an unprecedented possibility of protection.
When speaking of JGL, the innovation was applied to the packaging of our top export brand, Aqua Maris, which represents an important step in the process of internationalization and enables safety without affecting the product price. Ever since its application began, the infrared design has been applied to the JGL probiotics line, first on Normia, then on Lactogyn.
Moreover, the infrared design has become part of that line's visual identity - besides safety, it contributes to the overall communication and recognisability of JGL probiotics as unique, innovative and efficient products.
The latest recognition - the National Science Award - is only one in a line of some fifty awards won by the research team in the last three years, both at home and in numerous countries of the world.
