JGL Makes Sizeable Donation to the Department of Haematology of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka

Dedication to patient care has always been the focus of JGL’s activities, and the company strives to be a reliable community partner in everything it does. At the end of a challenging year, during which our efforts were focused on maintaining business stability, investing in employees, new capacities and technologies, new products and markets, but above all on healthcare and treatment support, JGL donated a portable ultrasound machine with dedicated ultrasound software and convex and linear probes. The machine will be used for examinations at the Department of Haematology, Internal Medicine Clinic of the Clinical Hospital Centre Rijeka (CHC Rijeka).

“We are proud that we are able to support and acknowledge the efforts of those we work with every day, the doctors and other staff of the Department of Haematology, in order to facilitate patient treatment. My hope is that this donation will, at least to some extent, contribute to the provision of improved healthcare to our fellow citizens and other patients,” said Ivo Usmiani, president of JGL’s Board of Directors, at the donation handover ceremony.

Ultrasound technology has a range of applications in haematology – from establishing the size of lymph nodes and monitoring them during therapy to performing ultrasound-guided punctures of lymph nodes or other tumour masses and ultrasound-guided evacuation of pleural effusion or ascites, diagnosing peripheral vein thrombosis, placing intravascular catheters, etc.

“The donation of this ultrasound machine, which will remain permanently at our Department, makes it much easier, and even faster, to perform an ultrasound examination for a number of indications. In addition, this will enable us to conduct bedside examinations, which are safer and more comfortable for patients. I would like to thank this renowned company for their valuable and significant donation,” said Toni Valković, head of the Department of Haematology, who was accompanied by Nikolina Đuran, Deputy Director of CHC Rijeka, Renata Dobrila-Dintinjana, Assistant Director of Quality, and Davor Štimac, Head of the Internal Medicine Clinic at CHC Rijeka.
