The Commission of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development has considered our latest Sustainable Development Report for the sixth consecutive year and has reached the conclusion that it includes all necessary elements and satisfies the criteria for B level of reporting with regard to G3 guidelines. Through it, the company expresses its clear decision to take responsibility for its non-financial effects, and by selecting tangible topics and indicators it provides the shareholders with available information so they can evaluate non-financial effects of the company in 2013.
As CEO Ivo Usmiani emphasized in the introduction, in a time when the economic crisis hurts social relationships and topples trust between groups, awareness of the significance and responsibility organizations have in the contemporary society is more important than ever before. Being socially responsible in this sense does not mean merely fulfilling legal obligations, but going a step further and investing even more into human capital, the environment and relationships with interested parties.
JGL strives every year to create an open relationship with its employees, enable a stimulating work atmosphere, nurture healthy personal relations and maintain good communication with external and internal shareholders, all with the aim of creating an environment that supports creativity, free voicing of one's opinion, and discussing problems. As was stated by the commission, "JGL restores the reputation of private companies in Croatia and in the world through their example of good practice in applying social responsibility, a reputation that was significantly damaged in the last ten years by irresponsible actions of some private entrepreneurs who were not prepared to meet the challenges of sustainable development."
