"JGL E1" maxi sailboat, its steersman Agyd Pengg and the JGL crew defended the title of the winner of this year's twelfth consecutive Fiumanka race. The JGL crew conquered the fourteen nautical miles long route, struggling with the west wind blowing at the speed of ten knots, in one hour and 33 minutes, setting the new record of the biggest regatta on the Northern Adriatic Sea.
According to the Novi list newspaper, Fiumanka has been "a one-way street" from the start, since the "E1 JGL" crew assumed the leading position already at the first buoy in front of Žurkovo, after only fifteen minutes of sailing, increasing its advantage by the end of the race.
- A beautiful regatta and a beautiful town. I'm glad we defended the title and am particularly happy to be here this year. The conditions were favourable for us and the entire crew did an amazing job - said the steersman and owner of the impressive VOR 70 (70 feet long) sailboat, which celebrated its second victory in its second participation in the "Rijeka sailing celebration", for the Rijeka newspaper. It sailed adorned by the new JGL visual identity, showing off its four-colour drops and the symbolic slogan "as precious as a drop of water", all a part of the JGL new visual identity.
- In the year in which JGL celebrates its 20th birthday, it is truly a great honour to be a part of the largest international sailing event on Kvarner. There are many things Fiumanka and JGL have in common - besides the city of Rijeka in which they are growing, making improvements and progress, the main initiator of the popular regatta's prosperity, and our company's, is the sea, a genuine blessing of this amazing region! That is why I am so proud that in the 12th year of Fiumanka, besides the Aqua Maris sailboat, we also had the opportunity to lift the sails of the company's new visual identity, celebrating two decades of successful operation. I am also proud of my amazing crew led by Darko Hajdinjak from Rijeka and Agyd Pengg who steered this genuine "space ship" JGL E1. I love Fiumanka and I wish the race plenty of more wind, laughter and true competitive spirit in the years to come - said Ivo Usmiani, JGL's General Manager and a member of the winning JGL E1 crew, after the race.
The victory was celebrated with champagne and even the main tactician, Darko Hajdinjak, could not escape it as it was spilled.
Let us add that this impressive "Formula 1" sailboat once went on a regatta around the world, while it recently participated in the famous "500 milja" (500 miles) navigation regatta, breaking a record while doing so.
