JGL’s team reaps success in Case Study Competition

JGL's team participated in the Case Study Competition (CSC) organized by the IEDC Bled School of Management Alumni Club Croatia in the last week of April 2018.

The main goal of the competition was to create conditions for participants that imitate the everyday reality of top management making complex decisions in equally complex circumstances.

This type of case study, where competitors have 24 hours to make a decision, provide adequate business arguments for that decision and find relevant information serving as the basis for the decision, promotes structured and responsible thinking and decision making.

During two productive days, members of JGL’s team, together with the representatives of five other leading Croatian companies, faced a 24-hour challenge that consisted of creating a strategy for the further expansion of Amazon, the leader in global online sales, into the sales market of traditional stores. What made this job even more difficult was the company’s success and an existing well defined strategy and orientation toward customers and innovations. Now, something new and innovative, but also profitable and sustainable, had to be designed.

Although JGL’s team did not win first place, its solution fulfilled all these criteria and Dr. Nenad Filipović, in charge of the competition, commended JGL team’s admirable level of knowledge, energy, dedication and team work.

The IEDC Bled School of Management and its Alumni Club traditionally organize an international case study competition in line with the mission of developing business thinking, teaching young managers about the current challenges in companies and encouraging team work.
