JGL Science Advisory Board Third Annual Meeting Held

JGL’s Science Advisory Board (SAB), an independent body comprised of top foreign and domestic experts who raise the science profile of the company’s projects, held its third annual meeting.

The attendees were greeted by Zdravka Knežević, Director of Scientific Operations, and Leo Štefan, an expert in Research and Preformulations, after which the company’s CEO Mislav Vučić held an introductory speech.

“JGL’s strategy rests on three key pillars – patient and consumer needs; new and complex products; and the need for a timely entry into market. We are focused on three therapeutic areas – nasal, ophthalmic, and dermatological products, and this has translated into our R&D activities, where we have doubled our investments over the last few years,” said Vučić, while presenting new capacities and technologies developed as part of the recently completed INTEGRA project.

In her introductory speech, Knežević thanked SAB members Prof. Henning H. Blume, PhD, Prof. Ralph Mösges, PhD, Prof. Stipan Jonjić, PhD, Prof. Özgen Özer, PhD, Prof. Vladimir Trkulja, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Sonja Jandroković, PhD, and Andreas Bilstein, PhD, with a special mention of two members who were unable to attend this year – Jag Ahluwalia, PhD, and Prof. Jasmina Lovrić, PhD.

The SAB is an independent, international advisory body composed of scientists and experts whose areas of interest fall within the company’s strategic therapeutic areas, and who operate in global markets. It consists of nine experts who are internationally renowned in their respective fields – pharmacology, preclinical, clinical and regulatory phases of drug development, pharmaceutical product design, and drug delivery systems and technologies, and who have practical, regulatory, clinical and industrial experience.

The main goals of the SAB meeting are strengthening the science profile of JGL’s R&D projects/product portfolio, networking and sharing relevant, science-based knowledge and ideas, reviewing, challenging and advising the JGL team on ongoing R&D projects, offering scientific rationale and pertinent data on implementation and plans, collaborating with the JGL team and other SAB members, and presenting its areas of expertise through lectures and discussions.
