The Kvarner 2030 conference, a traditional meeting point for leaders and visionaries analysing development processes in the Kvarner region, brought together numerous top experts from various economic sectors, including transport, logistics, and tourism. The event, held in Opatija on 20 November 2024, also welcomed representatives from local and regional authorities and various institutions.
This year’s conference focused on transformation and investment – topics that present both challenges and opportunities to redefine collective potential.
“Kvarner has all the prerequisites to be a leader in sustainable development, serving as an example of a region that blends tradition with innovation. We are facing challenging yet exciting times, where we must balance significant ambitions with potential risks,” emphasised Slavica Bakić, editor-in-chief of Novi list, in her opening remarks. Discussions on the development of Rijeka and Kvarner followed, with Dunja Siuc Valković, Director of Global Business Development at JGL, participating in the “Investment and Tourism” panel.
“The foundation of any quality development and sustainable future is synergy – the collaboration of all interested stakeholders. A prime example of local networking that fosters quality and shared success is the partnership between JGL and the University of Rijeka. This collaboration not only broadens our knowledge base but also establishes strong foundations for long-term development. I believe that collaboration with scientific institutions strengthens the city’s scientific foundation and serves as a model for how sustainable development can be built through innovation and cooperation that benefits the entire community,” emphasised Siuc Valković. She also added that JGL has revived Rijeka’s industrial spirit, while Aqua Maris, a brand that embodies the unique therapeutic power of the Adriatic Sea, has become one of the largest brands from Rijeka and Croatia, recognised in numerous global markets.
