JGL is the first in Croatia to, in cooperation with ophthalmologists, conduct free measurements of intraocular pressure and eye dryness in pharmacies across the country.
As part of the “Believe Your Eyes” project, launched in October last year, JGL was the first in Croatia to offer free testing of intraocular pressure and eye dryness in pharmacies across the country in cooperation with ophthalmologists. In more than 800 tests performed, it was found that one in four people (26 per cent) have high eye pressure and that almost every other person has dry eye!
Dry eye is an eye disease that can occur due to tear film disorders, caused either by inadequate production of tears or their excessive evaporation. These problems can cause discomfort and damage to the surface of the eye. The most common causes of dry eye can be extended periods spent working on the computer and looking at screens, exposure to wind and smoke, staying in ventilated and air-conditioned areas, wearing contact lenses or unsuitable glasses, ageing, etc.
Increased pressure in the blood vessels of the eye can lead to glaucoma, a group of diseases that affect the optic nerve and nerve fibres of the eye. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to loss of sight. Glaucoma treatment can often cause dry eye. JGL’s glaucoma medications and artificial tears Vizol S are reliable and effective against these diseases of the modern era.
This year, the plan is to expand the project in Croatia and the region.
