Sea as a cure in health tourism

Anna Maria Donadić, Director of the JGL Aqua Maris Programme, held a lecture about the sea as a complex medium with healing and soothing antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral effects at the Tourist forum "Crikvenica - the Health Riviera", on behalf of the Aqua Maris Institute of Marine Research.

The assembly was held to commemorate 125 years of Crikvenica Tourism in Thalassotherapia, an establishment with which JLG has been cooperating for years. Our topic "Sea as the cure" was introduced at the assembly.

Given that back in 1888 the town of Crikvenica was recognized as one of the quality and potential health tourism destinations in Kvarner, the forum discussed the approach for positioning its riviera as a health tourism destination so that the identity and image are a result of a guiding idea, as well as the possibilities for the development of wellness and spa.

In support of this there is the fact that on a global scale health tourism grows at a rate of 15% and 20% annually and that it is strategically important for Croatian tourism. For example, medical tourism, as one of the health tourism segments, brings 44 to 60 billion dollars a year.
