As part of the Faculty of Medicine Day celebrations, the Pharmacy Laboratory was officially opened in the same building that houses the departments of the University of Rijeka. The Laboratory is a chemistry practicum for the newly established pharmacy study programme in Rijeka, where students can acquire new skills for jobs in pharmacies, hospitals and healthcare institutions, and the pharmaceutical industry.
The lab equipment was co-financed by the University of Rijeka, the City of Rijeka, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and JGL. Deputy Mayor of the City of Rijeka Goran Palčevski, Rector of the University of Rijeka Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, Rector of the Faculty of Medicine Goran Hauser and CEO of JGL Mislav Vučić all attended the opening ceremony.
“A lot of effort and energy was invested in establishing the pharmacy study programme. I am glad that we were able to seize the moment and that we had great people working on it. Without their continued efforts, we would not be able to open this laboratory today. We especially want to thank the City of Rijeka, the County and JGL for supporting us on this journey,” said Rector Prijić-Samaržija.
“We have supported the establishment of the pharmacy study programme from the very beginning, and there is no doubt in my mind that our cooperation will only continue to develop. The fact that this study programme is now available in Rijeka is very important to us because I believe that some of these students may very well be our colleagues one day,” said Vučić.
