The pharmaceutical company JGL from Rijeka marked the World Blood Donor Day with a national humanitarian action for blood donation titled "JGL Drop", organised in partnership with the Red Cross and the Clinical Institute of Transfusion Medicine. The actions took place at the Departments of Transfusion Medicine in Zagreb and Split, and in the pharmaceutical company JGL in Rijeka. A total of 68 employees participated in the "JGL Drop" action in the business premises on Svilno. Twenty eight employees donated blood for the first time and the activity resulted in the collection of 48 units of blood.
"I am extremely pleased to see that JGL joined our plan of actions and hope that it will set an example for many other companies to contribute to our efforts to ensure adequate supplies of blood for those who need it. We believe this action is very valuable, especially since it encouraged a lot of donors to give blood for the first time. I hope they will continue with this humane practice and look forward to future humanitarian actions in cooperation with JGL", said Ivo Vidotto, the president of the Council of Blood Donors of the Rijeka Red Cross branch office.
The athletes of the Primorje Aqua Maris synchronised swimming club, sponsored by JGL for many years, as well as the students of the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Rijeka, JGL's close partner, participated in the action as well. JGL Drop is proof of JGL's recognition of the significance of humane and socially useful work and developed corporate culture.
